Recently the majority of my head space has been dominated by Scarlett’s pastures new, new school, new teachers, new therapists, new equipment, new routine that I have barely had time to consider what we’ll be leaving behind.
I listen to lots of parents who are unhappy with their child’s provision or the input they have been given by their VI team. So it makes me feel truly blessed that my daughter was given the gift of a great network of specialists who worked tirelessly and endlessly at helping Scarlett develop.
Whether it be a new idea, or a different approach, Scarlett’s determined and assertive nature never phased any of the staff who supported her. She grew so close to them over the years that they have been involved and they were welcome visitors to our home.
My girl is a mobility superstar, stairs, climbing, walking, self-protection, room-mapping and confidence. This is a great quality of Scarlett’s and it is due to the hard-work and perseverance of the mobility office we have had since Scarlett was 18 months.
Dancing around the living room, hours spent on the computer, a variety of approaches, ever changing to fit my girls needs. The VI teacher and TA were always absolutely wonderful and patient…. even when Scarlett wasn’t so wonderful.
So thank you team, you have been brilliant, and Scarlett and I will miss you all!
