Many of the UK’s most knowledgeable experts of the eye condition nystagmus will be attending the Nystagmus Network Open day at the Hilton Hotel, Reading on Saturday 7 May. The Open Day is an annual event where people with the eye condition and families of children affected by nystagmus gather to meet vision scientists and eye health professionals.
The day will feature updates about; identifying more and more of the genes associated with nystagmus and new tests to measure how nystagmus affects vision. Current work includes, looking for answers to questions like whether contact lenses help and whether there’s an optimum age for null point surgery. There will also be information about acquired nystagmus. The experts will be endeavouring to answer the big question: why does nystagmus happen?
Richard Wilson, Chairman, Nystagmus Network, said: “The experts at our Open Day are used to explaining about nystagmus in an easy to understand way and will be on hand to answer questions about the treatment of nystagmus. Informative, inspirational and informative are just three of the ways previous Open Days have been described. This is undoubtedly the biggest gathering of people affected by nystagmus and we extend a warm welcome to anyone comes along.”
Richard continued “Being in Reading with its proximity to national road, rail and air networks means we have more ‘experts’ on hand than for many years. Researchers and clinicians have said, they are looking forward to meeting us informally outside the clinic and listening to what we have to say.”
